STAGING · TEST MODE This is a staged prototype. Not a live product. No real payments. The demo below uses synthetic sample data only. General information only — not legal or financial advice.

Australian subscription finder

Find every subscription quietly billing you.

SubZap scans your statements for recurring charges you'd forgotten about — free trials that converted, duplicate streaming plans, annual renewals sneaking up — then drafts a cancellation letter grounded in Australian consumer law.

You review everything. Nothing is ever cancelled automatically.

01

Scan. Decide. Cancel.

Three steps, and you stay in control at every one. SubZap never cancels anything on your behalf and never contacts merchants for you.

1

Scan

We surface every recurring charge and flag the trap patterns: trial conversions, duplicate plans, and silent annual renewals.

2

Decide

You pick what goes. Some subscriptions are worth keeping — SubZap shows you the full picture and lets you choose.

3

Cancel

Send the law-grounded cancellation letter, or follow the merchant's own cancellation path. We track the outcome.

Honest note: the staged demo below runs on synthetic sample data — it shows what the scan looks like, not that it works on your real statement. Detection quality on real bank descriptors is [unverified] and must be measured before launch.

02

Try the scan on a sample statement

This demo runs against fictional sample data. Tick the subscriptions you'd cancel — the total is computed from your selections, not claimed by us.

This figure is your maths, not our claim: we don't know what you can save until you run the scan on your own statement. Synthetic prices, demo only. The gym row carries a minimum term — the letter asks the merchant to itemise any early termination fee in writing instead of pretending cancellation is free.

With the law on your side

Australia's new subscription-trap laws give cancellation letters real weight. We cite the law precisely — as it stands, not as we wish it stood.

What the law gives you

Cancellation letters reference provisions verified against primary sources on 28 Sep 2026:

  • ✓The Competition and Consumer Amendment (Unfair Trading Practices) Act 2026 passed Parliament on 2 July 2026 and commences 1 July 2027. [verified 2026-09-28]
  • ✓Its subscription provisions (ss 48B–48H) will require pre-contract disclosure, ongoing information, and an easy, straightforward cancellation method — including online cancellation where you signed up online. Letters cite these as incoming law only. [verified 2026-09-28]
  • ✓Penalties for breaches: the greater of $100m, 3x the benefit obtained, or 30% of adjusted turnover. [verified 2026-09-28]
  • ✓Subscription traps and dark patterns are already in the ACCC's 2026–27 compliance and enforcement priorities. [verified 2026-09-28]
  • ✓Today, letters lean on existing rights: ACL unfair contract terms (ss 24–28) and s 18 misleading or deceptive conduct for how trial terms were presented. [verified 2026-09-28]

What SubZap letters won't do

Boundaries baked into the product — not just promised in prose:

  • ✕Never presents the new subscription provisions as operative before 1 July 2027 — the letter carries the "not yet in force" qualifier.
  • ✕Never guarantees an outcome. No "the merchant must cancel", no promised refunds — banned phrasing in the letter generator.
  • ✕Never acts as your agent or lawyer. You review and send every letter; SubZap never contacts merchants for you.
  • ✕Never files ACCC or fair-trading complaints on your behalf — and never implies the ACCC resolves individual disputes (it doesn't; it records them).
  • ✕Never pretends a contract-bound subscription (gym minimum terms, early termination fees) is free to cancel — the letter asks for the fee itemised in writing.

Legal grounding: Treasury media release, HWLE, Dwyer Harris, Ashurst, Bright Law, Boettcher Law — checked 28 Sep 2026. SubZap is a consumer-information tool, not a law firm. For disputes involving significant money, consult a solicitor or your state/territory fair trading agency.

Straight answers

Do you cancel subscriptions for me?
No. You review every letter and send it yourself — that keeps you in control and keeps SubZap inside the legal boundary. Nothing is ever cancelled automatically.
What if the merchant refuses to cancel?
The letter escalates: your state or territory fair trading agency, then a report to the ACCC. Honest framing matters here — the ACCC records complaints to guide enforcement; it doesn't resolve individual disputes, and we never imply otherwise.
What about my gym contract?
If there's a minimum term, the letter asks the merchant for the exact early termination fee in writing instead of pretending cancellation is free. Disputed fees over $500, or any debt-collection threat, get routed to a solicitor — we don't handle those.
Why A$59 a year?
Because the free scan shows you the number first — whether $59 is worth it is your call, computed from your own statement, not from a savings figure we invented. What $59 buys: cancel-assist letters, 12 months of renewal monitoring, and trial-expiry alerts.
Is this financial or legal advice?
No. SubZap is a consumer-information tool: general information only, never personal financial advice. The letters are templates grounded in publicly available Australian consumer law — review before sending, and consult a solicitor or your fair trading agency for disputes involving significant money.
What do you do with my statement data?
Statement uploads are used only to detect your subscriptions. We never sell your data. (In this staged prototype, no real statements are processed — the demo runs on synthetic sample data.)
